Windows will warn you, and here is why
The Windows build is not yet signed with a code-signing certificate, so Windows SmartScreen shows a blue "Windows protected your PC" panel the first time you run the installer. Press More info → Run anyway.
We would rather you did not have to. A certificate is being arranged, and the warning goes away once signed builds have earned SmartScreen's trust. The Mac build is notarized by Apple and opens without a warning.
For the same reason, some antivirus products — AhnLab V3, for one — may flag
guildlings.exe the first time it runs or just after an update: a new app with no
signature has no reputation yet. The installer comes only from this site and our GitHub
releases, and every update's signature is checked before it installs. If yours blocks it,
restore the file from the antivirus's quarantine and allow it; if you are unsure, write to
guildlings@natdal.app.

After it starts
It lives in the tray by the clock on Windows — on Windows 11, under the ^ arrow if the icon is hidden — and in the menu bar at the top of the screen on a Mac. The first launch opens Settings on the Devices page: tick the coding tools you want watched, and sessions start appearing on the taskbar (the Dock's edge on a Mac) within seconds.
